SUTTON PROM EXTRA REHEARSALS

Hi everyone, what do you think about having extra rehearsals for Sutton Prom? It is a long night which is always a hard blow, our performance would surely benefit by adding extra work, please let me have your thoughts......

  1. Sounds like a good idea to me,especially as we usually do an encore :-o

  2. i think it would be a good idea to have extra rehearsal,it would give the band more confidence on some of the music we have to play.eleanor thinks its a good idea too.

  3. extra rehearsals are good as long as everyone can make them, i think anyway.

  4. Extra fully attended rehearsals would be nice but improbable. Added rehearsals with as many players as possible may be as much as could be hoped for, although the aim should always be for full attendance.

Perhaps sectional or part band (upper, middle, lower etc) rehearsals would be an option ?

  5. @ Anonymous - to be honest, I agree, and with Tracey's comment as well. Given that the extra rehearsals for Stevenage were rarely (if at all) fully attended (valid reasons though with other committments), I think it will be unlikely that additional practises for a concert (albeit it a big concert) will be either. Nice thought though.
I like you're idea of part band rehearsals. Again though, given that there is a already a significant number of concerts lined up for the summer, asking the band to make further committments may be too much? Any thoughts?

  6. I think that we owe it to ourselves and our audiences to put on the best show that we can and we all know that there's only one way to do that.

  7. @ Anonymous - I can't disagree with that at all. And we have seen that, even if an extra rehearsal isn't fully attended, it does still benefit greatly those who are there. What I was getting at(but maybe wasn't clear) was that if there were extra practises/sectionals, Iit may be too much to ask the band to do these on Sundays as is usually the case for contests, given the number of Sundays booked out in the summer for concerts.

If you're the same 'Anonymous' who posted earlier in this thread, then, as you say, over to the MD!
